Yoonchi's Kawai Page.

Since I bought my first real synthesizer, a Kawai K4, I've never found another synth that could be so versatile and refreshing.

Other synths like Yamaha's and Korg's synth may have extremely good sound engines, but it's the shortcomings of the K4 that makes it have such a typical character.

To help K4 users with patches, I've made some of my K4 patches available on this page.

The majority of these patches are banks that were available on the web and that I have modified to my own liking.

The Gm banks are extremely well suited to do just the standard MIDI stuff. Don't expect any spectacular real sounding instruments with these patches, but some combinations work quite well.

The area where the K4 excells is in producing analogue sounds. The K4 is a digital synth and still it can reproduce some phat and querky Moogish sounds. To get an impression of those sounds, you need to download the analogue bank.

To upload the banks and patches into your K4, I recommend the  K4 Patch Editor by Mikko Laanti . It is freeware and does the job perfectly and you can use it as your K4 editor.
You can also use the K4WIN Windows Editor/ Librarian by Bill Wresnicow.

The GM Banks : these banks contain General MIDI patches for the K4.

The Analogue Banks : these banks contain analogue patches for the K4. These patches are great to use in a totaly analogue setup.
